The space inbetween book project
A touring exhibition curated by Tara Gilbee, the space in between includes the work of 32 artists who have each responded to the internal space of a book carved and presented to them for their artistic intervention.
After spending time collecting dozens of English and foreign language books, Gilbee utilised a scalpel to carve out a section from each book. Artists were then presented with two objects, the carved book and the core which had been removed, with which to make a work. From this starting point, a vast array of results were generated, including sculptural, installation based, drawing and photographic works.
